Traveling Resources for Your Trip

Things to take with you:

  • Passport: be sure to take a copy of your passport with you in case you should lose yours. Also leave a copy of your driver’s license and passport with a friend or relative in your home country in case there is an emergency
  • Visa
  • Tickets
  • Money: make sure you carry a variety: cash, only a couple of credit cards, and take travelers checks.
  • Be sure to have a list of your credit cards with emergency contact numbers on your person as well as with a friend or family member in your home country in case of an emergency
  • Medicines: Keep a copy of your prescription with you. Take extra in case your return is delayed. Take extra pairs of contact lenses, and glasses
  • Insurance Card

Check to see if you need any of the following before you go:

  • Innoculations
  • Passport
  • Visa (the time can vary up to 35 days)
  • International Calling Card
  • Electrical Adapter
  • Rail passes (these often can be purchased before you arrive)
  • International Driver’s License (can be obtained by the AAA)
  • Mark your luggage inside and out (it will be easily identified)
Safety while you are there:
  • Do not leave money and valuables in your hotel room
  • Only take taxies with official markings on them
  • Try not to travel alone
  • Do not converse with strangers about your itinerary
  • Drive with your windows up when you are in a crowd
  • Avoid taking short cuts, and going through narrow alley way
